NEWS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 2007 Our new technical manual has just arrived from the printer! 'Installation and Operation of SCS Pactor Modems' White Squall Consulting Inc. is now a Dealer for Icom Marine HF SSB Radios! We are proud to announce that we are now dealers for Icom Canada's High Frequency Single Sideband Marine Radios. We will now be able to offer complete Radio/Antenna Kits as well as Pactor Modem kits to our clients complete with step by step installation and setup instructions. All of us at White Squall Consulting Inc. would like to express our sincere thanks to the many visitors that made a point of stopping at the Icom Canada booth at the recent Vancouver International Boat Show to meet with us! We were very pleased with the level of interest in our SCS Pactor Modem display and enjoyed discussing the many possible system applications. Many thanks also to the great staff at Icom Canada for all of their kind support during the show! Vancouver International Boat Show: Feb 09 to 13, 2006. We will be providing data communications support to Icom Canada during the Vancouver International Boat Show and will be located in the Icom Canada booth. We will have an SCS Pactor modem interfaced to an IC M802 HF SSB Marine Transceiver with a lap top PC running Airmail connected to the modem. This will enable us to demonstrate Pactor system setup and operation. As there will only be two of us representing White Squall Consulting Inc. this year we will not be available in the Icom Canada booth for the entire show, but our plan at this time is to be in the booth between 1300 and 2000 hrs. daily. The Icom Canada personnel in the booth will be familiar with our schedule, so please check with them for any changes. July 2005: Article in Pacific Yachting White Squall Consulting submitted an article titled "Onboard E-Mail Systems" to Pacific Yachting Magazine. The article, printed in the July issue, focused on the Sailmail and Winlink 2000 systems and their requirements.
June 2005: SCS Produces a new Modem! Special Communication Systems in Germany are now producing a new HF radio modem designed for a USB PC interface. These units will be shipped from Germany shortly. April 01, 2005: We've Moved! At the end of March 2005 we moved from Sidney to the Maple Bay Marina in Maple Bay (about 6 km east of Duncan). Maple Bay offers us a very much better location to service our floating clients as our current location is on the scenic well traveled route between Sidney and Nanaimo. Be sure to visit us for all of your marine communication needs. To help us provide you with better service, please contact us before your visit by landline or e-mail to discuss your requirements and book an appointment . You will find the Maple Bay Marina to be a friendly, beautiful, quiet and scenic location. 'The Shipyard', pub, located at the head of the dock, offers a friendly atmosphere and specializes in excellent food, locally 'crafted' beers and "Merridale" cider, all on draught. Local wines are also featured. The Merridale Cindery is located a short distance from the Marina in the Cowichan Valley and offers daily tours. Vancouver International Boat Show: Feb 09 to 13, 2005. We would like to thank Icom Canada, their staff, dealers and clients for their excellent support during the Vancouver International Boat Show. We received a very much higher level of interest in our SCS Pactor modem products and e-mail over HF SSB radio systems than we had anticipated. We also received several commercial enquiries involving data applications using HF SSB radio . All in all it was a very enjoyable and productive experience. Many thanks again to all of the individuals that took the time to visit us and discuss their data communication requirements! We look forward to serving you in the future. On Friday February 04, 2005, White Squall Consulting Inc. presented a Data Communications seminar to Icom Canada Dealers at the Icom office in Delta, B.C. This Powerpoint seminar specifically focused on HF Data Communications using Icom HF SSB Transceivers in conjunction with SCS Pactor Modems. The following topics were discussed:
