BATTERIES: RESPECT THEM, DON'T MURDER THEM!!

Lead-Acid batteries are probably the oldest and most common electrical devices in use today.  Perhaps this is why we tend to abuse them, or at the very best, ignore them.  Very few boaters institute even a minimal battery maintenance schedule, but yet expect their batteries to perform when required.  Is it any wonder that any time boaters get together and the topic of batteries comes up, one hears horror story after horror story.
